Recording setup

Recording is less forgiving than live calls — every flaw lands in the file. This setup guide covers framing, background and audio priorities.

Framing rules

Eyes on the upper third of the frame, a little headroom, and the camera at eye level. Frame slightly wider than you think you need — cropping in is easy, cropping out is not.

Audio beats video

Viewers tolerate average video but never bad audio. Put the microphone close, kill the echo (soft furnishings help), and record a ten-second test before every session.

Settings that survive editing

Record at the highest bitrate your disk allows, keep frame rate constant, and avoid auto exposure drift during the take. Fix camera settings before hitting record, not in post.
